Live Action Art Tonight at Create: Fixate
Those of you in Los Angeles, make sure to check out Create: Fixate, an art show that gives emerging artists the opportunity to expose their craft to a larger audience. This year, they have also teamed up with Live Action Art (LAA), which pits artists head-to-head with their piers in a thematic competition for everyone to watch. This year, the show's them is architecture, so you'll have an opportunity to see them work with cinder blocks, metal fences and other construction materials. By the way, I've also heard that there will be some killer music...Art and tunes...Sounds like a great evening to me.

Go Getter Sign
Not sure why, something about these crazy times we're living, made this piece of art by Patrick Martinez appealing. Perhaps it combines the energy and passion of a sports game with the desperation people are currently feeling. Definitely a strong statement but it spoke to me none the less.

Re-Amimated Artistry
I just came upon these cool cartoon illustrations and thought I would share. Ever wonder what the Simpsons would look like anime style? Or if Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was illustrated Super Mario style? Click here to check them out. The pictures include a variety of well-known icons in cartoons, films and comics, and show them redrawn in different illustrative styles.
Picasso Art Day
Today, June 24th, is Picasso Art Day. In 1901, Pablo Picasso's first art exhibition opened in Paris, France. Did you also know that Picasso's full name was Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso... What a mouth-full. Having produced over 50,000 works during his lifetime gave him unprecedented exposure. The fact that he spearheaded the century's most important movement (cubism) and its defining technique (collage) and painted its most imposing masterpiece ("Guernica") - makes it hard to believe that most subsequent modern artists haven't been influenced Picasso.

The Wierd, Twisted and Amazing World of Blu
Those of you who aren't familiar with the works of Blu, you need to watch this video. The animation takes you on a tour of a graffiti-filled Buenos Aires Neighborhood as well as an art museum. It's hard to think about the twisted mind that created this but it's also one of the most interesting and thought-provoking animations I've ever seen.

Gianluca Fallone
Gianluca Fallone is a designer/illustrator from Argentina, currently based in London. At only 23 years old, he has managed to build up an impressive folio that includes work with clients such as MTV, Nike and Cartoon Network.
Fallone’s stance is simple —’I love type and design, and I particularly like when both are present — and evident in much of his work. He is inspired by Japanese animation and comic books that also triggered his ’illustration-design rollercoaster,’ and his pieces are beautifully crafted and extremely detailed. Fallone is putting his mark on the Argentinean design world, and we are expecting to see great things from this young and amazingly talented artist. - Brendan McKnight

Thanks to Andres Hernandez
As a new apparel company (with limited budgets), we're often times forced to rely on the generosity of others. Andres Hernandez, photographer extraordinaire, is one of those people. Having worked with brands such as Mazda, Axe, Hawaiian Tropic and many others, we were honored to have him photograph our first SOBO collection. Make sure to check out his work andreshernandez. Thanks Andres!
