Notebook
Great creative definitely deserves to be past around the internet and go viral. This video, by Dutch artist Evelien Lohbeck, transforms an ordinary notebook into a "high tech" computer. Blurring the lines between reality and animation, she keeps you wanting to see what comes next. Check it out, you won't be disappointed.

SOBO to Create Official Bawls Clothing Line
SOBO will be designing and selling a collection of limited edition Bawls t-shirts for men and women. The shirts will be available exclusively at Bawls.com this September.
Those of you not familiar with Bawls, you're probably not into gaming, paintball or BMX, three areas that the guarana-based beverage has focused its marketing efforts. If you need a little boost, check them out. They also have the first-ever, energy root beer (Geek Beer), which happens to be my favorite.
SOBO Offices Robbed
Last night some crazy fan rammed in the gate in our parking lot, broke 2 hurricane-proof windows and stole a bunch of shirts from our Miami office. The funny thing is that he left all the computers, printers, cameras, etc. Guess he really liked the shirts. Make sure to get them while they're hot (literally) at www.surropa.com.

La Cave des Fondus
I recently came upon this French Restaurant in New York City called La Cave des Fondus. The unique thing about this new hot spot, which opened in December of last year, is not its intentionally rude waiters (living in Miami, this is definitely not a novel feature), but the fact that they serve wine in glass baby bottles. Could this become the next big trend in alcohol consumption... I'll let you decide.

Mil Máscaras, A Living Legend
Yesterday, I spoke on the phone with Mil Mascaras, one of the most important Mexican wrestlers in history. Having grown up outside Boston, Lucha Libre was something pretty foreign to me. After having worked in Latin America for over 15 years, however, I have definitely gained an appreciation for Lucha Libre and for the ground-breaking work Mil Mascaras started when he first entered the professional ring in 1965. He is known for introducing high-flying moves such as the plancha and tope suicida, as he travelled across the world entertaining fans from Mexico to the US to Japan. Mil Mascara's persona and flashy look was originally created for the big screen, and performed in over 17 Mexican horror/wrestling/action films. The name Mil Mascaras means "a thousand masks." He allegedly wore a different mask for each match. Those of you who haven't yet experienced Lucha Libre, make sure to check out our friends at Lucha Va Voom, which is now leaving it's home in California to perform shows in Chicago and New York.
SOBO Distributing Zipz Shoes in Latin America
SOBO, along with its California partner EBA LLC, has recently been selected to distribute Zipz shoes in Latin America. For those of you not yet familiar with this brand (it launches in the US in September), it is destined to completely reinvent the way you purchase shoes... The shoe's upper zips off and can be replaced with other colors, patters, high-top/low-top, etc. For the first time ever, you can purchase the outsole separately from the upper, creating your own unique look. The owners have spent the last five years perfecting the quality and it really is one of the most comfortable shoes you'll wear. Latin American retailers that are interested in purchasing, you can contact us at info@sobogear.com. Look for more information shortly.

Over the River
Most of you may be familiar with the artistic works of Christo and Jeanne-Claude from their most recent 2005 work in Central Park. They created a series of 7,503 vinyl gates with nylon fabric panels, transforming the park into a canvas that only could be replicated by the artists themselves. Their other past works have included highlighting the islands in Biscayne Bay, Miami with pink fabric, the Pont Neuf in Paris with polyamide fabric or the Reichstag in Berlin, with an aluminum-looking polypropylene. Through these works, they always manage to call attention to structures and the environment in ways that create a renewed appreciation. Their most recent project, scheduled to be revealed sometime in 2013, involves suspending shimmering waves of fabric, for a distance of 5.9 miles, above the Arkansas River in Colorado.

Live Action Art Tonight at Create: Fixate
Those of you in Los Angeles, make sure to check out Create: Fixate, an art show that gives emerging artists the opportunity to expose their craft to a larger audience. This year, they have also teamed up with Live Action Art (LAA), which pits artists head-to-head with their piers in a thematic competition for everyone to watch. This year, the show's them is architecture, so you'll have an opportunity to see them work with cinder blocks, metal fences and other construction materials. By the way, I've also heard that there will be some killer music...Art and tunes...Sounds like a great evening to me.

Go Getter Sign
Not sure why, something about these crazy times we're living, made this piece of art by Patrick Martinez appealing. Perhaps it combines the energy and passion of a sports game with the desperation people are currently feeling. Definitely a strong statement but it spoke to me none the less.

Re-Amimated Artistry
I just came upon these cool cartoon illustrations and thought I would share. Ever wonder what the Simpsons would look like anime style? Or if Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas was illustrated Super Mario style? Click here to check them out. The pictures include a variety of well-known icons in cartoons, films and comics, and show them redrawn in different illustrative styles.
Picasso Art Day
Today, June 24th, is Picasso Art Day. In 1901, Pablo Picasso's first art exhibition opened in Paris, France. Did you also know that Picasso's full name was Pablo Diego Jose Francisco de Paula Nepomuceno Maria de los Remedios Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad Ruiz y Picasso... What a mouth-full. Having produced over 50,000 works during his lifetime gave him unprecedented exposure. The fact that he spearheaded the century's most important movement (cubism) and its defining technique (collage) and painted its most imposing masterpiece ("Guernica") - makes it hard to believe that most subsequent modern artists haven't been influenced Picasso.

Lucha Va Voom Hits LA Once Again
Those of you in Los Angeles who haven't yet seen Lucha VaVoom, it's coming to the Mayan Theater on June 24 & 25th. The show combines the best of Mexican lucha libre and a vaudeville-style burlesque show. Trust me when I tell you that you've never seen anything quite like this before. The Wierd, Twisted and Amazing World of Blu
Those of you who aren't familiar with the works of Blu, you need to watch this video. The animation takes you on a tour of a graffiti-filled Buenos Aires Neighborhood as well as an art museum. It's hard to think about the twisted mind that created this but it's also one of the most interesting and thought-provoking animations I've ever seen.

He has done work for brands such as Nintendo, Nike, ATP, Heineken and Visa. Nieto excels as a painter, an animator, a designer, a live action director and a graphic artist. Check out some of his latest work, including his latest spot for Infamous (a Playstation game)... Really amazing stuff.

Gianluca Fallone
Gianluca Fallone is a designer/illustrator from Argentina, currently based in London. At only 23 years old, he has managed to build up an impressive folio that includes work with clients such as MTV, Nike and Cartoon Network.
Fallone’s stance is simple —’I love type and design, and I particularly like when both are present — and evident in much of his work. He is inspired by Japanese animation and comic books that also triggered his ’illustration-design rollercoaster,’ and his pieces are beautifully crafted and extremely detailed. Fallone is putting his mark on the Argentinean design world, and we are expecting to see great things from this young and amazingly talented artist. - Brendan McKnight
Check out more of his work at http://www.gianlucafallone.com/
Thanks to Andres Hernandez
As a new apparel company (with limited budgets), we're often times forced to rely on the generosity of others. Andres Hernandez, photographer extraordinaire, is one of those people. Having worked with brands such as Mazda, Axe, Hawaiian Tropic and many others, we were honored to have him photograph our first SOBO collection. Make sure to check out his work andreshernandez. Thanks Andres!
